The problem for me is how clumsy I can be. I'll manage to get the spaghetti sauce splattered on a page or become sucked into the book that when I reach for the wine--with my eyes still on the book--my hand can't quite grip the glass properly and knock it over. But hey, maybe a nice rice pudding will suffice for me! I don’t think I can recall eating while reading. The problem for me is how clumsy I can be. It does sound really silly because. Two good things in one sitting? Where's the harm in that? On the occasions that I eat while I'm reading, it's usually a light snack like popcorn or a few cookies. More often though, I snack when I'm doing serious writing. A can of Coca-cola and a little bowl of popcorn are my writing snacks of choice, although I do try not to go overboard. I ran through the entirety of the Game of Thrones series (books, not television) almost constantly over a bowl of pasta carbonara or bolognese. Studying abroad in Florence for the year gave me time to read what I wanted and also figure out how to cook what I wanted. Putting the two of them together was a heaven-match, I swear. I can definitely get behind this, especially when reading a book you just can’t bear to put down.
